The mornings are still cool, as we transition into sunnier Spring days. Bone Broth “Teas,” and soups in the mornings are especially supportive for beauty, health and immunity, and it feels so good!


I much prefer this to a raw superfood smoothie this time of year, and it’s even easier to make. Having a mug of bone broth is a brilliant addition to your daily health and beauty routine.


A warming and fragrant cup of bone broth tea, gently spiced with ginger, and some energy and beauty boosting superfoods add-ins. Does that sound as good to you, as it does to me? It’s so easy and delicious!


If you’ve been reading my last few posts on bone broths, you may be a little bit familiar with my experience of how by integrating bone broths into my regular diet, has improved the quality of my health. Dramatically. 

Bone Broths can be a powerful superfood ally in so many ways!


In last week’s post I talked about some of the basic nutritional building blocks that are present in bone broth. These heal and seal the gut, supporting the foundation of health at the root, and also reduce pain and inflammation throughout the body, and many other symptoms of common chronic illnesses. All the while and restoring strength, health, vitality.

Benefits of Bone Broth


Bone broth is also one of the best ways to cleanse and detoxify, while nourishing and restoring. Which is different from the cleaning effects of raw foods. Both are important, in balanced ratios and according to what’s in season, and the elements we each bring to the equation.


One of the reasons bone broths make you more beautiful, is the huge amount of Glycine, which is vital for liver’s ability to detoxify. This supports the body’s own gentle and powerful natural detoxification pathways.


The result? You’ll look and feel so fresh and so clean. Radiating beauty from the inside out, it honestly makes you glow!


Bone Broth is a rich source of the skin-supporting amino acids glycine and proline, along with collagen, which is the ultimate skin food. It improves skin elasticity and fights wrinkles.


Collagen helps fortify the structure of the connective tissues in your skin, while hyaluronic acid is responsible for keeping it plump and hydrated. I’ve really noticed quite a difference since I’ve been sipping bone broths.

One of the many reasons it’s definitely a magical elixir!


Hyaluronic acid and collagen are also responsible for giving giving your thighs and derriere a smooth appearance. Cellulite results as a breakdown and lack of the connective tissue and the firm youthfulness that these important nutrients provide. A few months of sipping bone broths is going to do more for the suppleness of your face and thighs than any expensive creams, or even botox treatments could provide!


Collagen also gives you stronger healthier hair and nails. It’s one of the basic building blocks of beauty. It’s also an important co-factor of healthy and strong teeth and bones.


As we age, our body’s ability to produce collagen declines and we begin to see the outward signs of aging. Including a lack of smooth flexibility in our joints. The health of our joints depends upon the health of the collagen in our ligaments, tendons and the end of our bones. Feeling flexible and light on our feet sure is an aspect of youthful beauty, and glorious health.


The Carnosine present in the bone broth, along with glycine and proline help restore the balance of healthy flora in our gut. Many of our mood altering chemicals like serotonin are made in the gut. A happy microbiome equals a happy mind.


An elevated mood has so many benefits on our quality of life. And a radiant appearance is certainly a pleasant “side effect!” Bone broths are known to support positive mood through powerful nutrition, including healthy fats (lipids) and minerals like magnesium, a relaxation and beauty mineral. High Magnesium in cells and soft tissues is the biochemistry of youth, and contributes to soft, smooth skin.


Bone broths promote weight loss, through balancing and supporting a healthy gut flora, and specifically the ones that are related to maintaining a healthy weight. Studies show that low levels of body fat are related to having a higher percentage of Bacteriodetes to Firmicutes. L-glutamine has been found in studies to reduce the amount of Firmicutes, in the gut and aid in weightloss.

Below you’ll find the recipe for that bone broth tea I’ve been sipping. Use my recipe as a guide, and see where your tastebuds and healthy practices may take you.

Morning Cup of Spiced Bone Broth


I begin by warming a cup of bone broth gently on the stove and add in a couple thin slices of ginger, a piece of star anise, a bit of cardamom, and a clove or two, and let these steep for a while on low.

You can put these spices into a tea bag or strainer to make it easier to fish them out. Let steep for about 5-15 minutes.
Then I add Collagen Hydrolysate (for an extra boost,) a Tablespoon of Pastured Butter and/or Coconut Oil, a dash of Coconut Aminos and a pinch of sea salt and whisk it all together.

Remember to add some fresh ground peppercorns, this helps activate the turmeric. (I like to add some coriander to my grinder too. My oh my. It's so delicious)

Pout into your favorite travel mug and you're good to go with a cup of liquid gold!
