In today's world cleansing has become a growing trend. It's mostly because we have all started to become aware that the majority of our food, our air, our water, work spaces and even our homes are quite toxic. Sorry I know its depressing, but thankfully there are solutions.

I believe that being able to acknowledge that there is a problem (food and environmental toxins) will help us bring about a positive change. With the power of social media its becoming harder for these careless companies to get away with things. Almost everyday I see posts about how toxic certain foods are that we though were healthy for us. And yet..

I am happy to see that so many of us are standing up and demanding change. So for all of you that want to be pro-active in being healthy I want to share with you 3 simple recipes that will cleanse your liver and help keep your colon clean ( by keeping your bowels moving), but actually there is a bit more to it.

But first I want to quickly mention why your liver's health is so important. Your liver's has over 400 functions, two of the main ones being production of bile which helps breakdown fats and the ability to detox your blood. In addition to those it also:
- Stores some vitamins and iron
- Stores the sugar glucose
-Converts stored sugar to functional sugar when the body's sugar (glucose) levels fall below normal
-Breaks down hemoglobin as well as insulin and other hormones
-Converts ammonia into urea, which is vital in metabolism
-Destroys old red blood cells (called RBC's)

I think you'd agree with me that if you want to optimize your health your liver needs to be in top shape.

So what these drinks actually do is help your liver do its own cleansing, the ingredients inside each of these drinks act like catalyst to help your liver properly function. They are a much needed support team for your liver's health.

Also keep in mind that there are certain foods, drinks and medicine that play quite a havoc to your liver's ability to function at a 100%, you should really avoid or at least limit the amount you consume as much as possible. Those item are alcohol, processed sugar, wheat, chemicals (food additives), prescription medication and anger. electrolyte lemonade -recipe -2

1. The Original Electrolyte Lemonade

Benefits : Overall great tonic drink for the liver and immune system.

Ingredients
1 Whole Organic Lemon
1 Tablespoon Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1/2 Organic Apple
1/2 Teaspoon of Raw Honey
Pinch of Sea Salt
Handful of Ice
Distilled Water

Instructions
1. If you own a Vitamix blender leave skin on lemon and cut into quarters, other wise peel the lemon and chop it up.
2. Cut apple in to chunks and add all ingredients into blender.
3. Add enough water to cover ingredients.
4. Blend 30 seconds -  1 min and enjoy!

2. Aloe Green Lemonade

Benefits: Great for the liver plus soothing for the colon.

Ingredients

2 Tablespoon Aloe Vera Gel
1/2 Organic Green Apple
1/2 teaspoon of Raw Honey
Pinch of Sea Salt
Handful of Ice
Distilled Water

Instructions

3. Berry Great Lemonade

2 Tablespoon of Ground Flax Seeds
1/2 Cup Raspberries or Blueberries
1/2 teaspoon of Ginger Powder
1/2 teaspoon of Raw Honey
Pinch of Sea Salt
Handful of Ice
Distilled Water

Instructions
1. If you own a Vitamix blender leave skin on lemon and cut into quarters, other wise peel the lemon and chop it up.
2. Place the berries, lemon, and the rest of the ingredients into your blender.

In Conclusion

There are many trending cleanses out there that make huge claims as to how they will detox your body, but in reality your body already comes with the best detoxing tool ever made your liver. As long as we avoid certain foods that cause damage to our liver and add such things as foods, herbs, and drinks that help support our liver's function your health will greatly improve. And one more thing...
